Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disused Coastguard Station.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether it is the intention either of his Department or the Sea Fisheries Association, Ltd., to convert the disused coastguard station situated between Downings and Mulroy Bay into a factory for the making and repairing of fishing nets; and, if not, whether he will make arrangements for other rural industries to be established in that district.

Comment on this

There is no present intention on the part of the Sea Fisheries Association or of the Department of converting the remains of the old coastguard station at Downings into a factory for repairing fishing nets. A rural industry in the district had recently to be discontinued owing to insufficiency of workers.
