asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of unemployed males registered at the employment exchanges of Cobh and Passage West, County Cork, respectively, for each of the four weeks in the period ended May 10th or the nearest date for which returns are available, and if he will also state the amounts paid in (a) unemployment benefits, (b) unemployment assistance for each of those weeks at each such exchange.

As this reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the reply:—

The particulars are as follows:—

Statement showing the number of males registered as seeking work on the undermentioned dates and the total amounts paid in unemployment benefit and unemployment assistance in the weeks ended on the under-mentioned dates, at Cobh Employment Exchange and at Passage West Branch Employment Office.

*Amounts paid to males and females; separate figures for males are not available. These figures are subject to audit.
