asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total expenditure by counties and the total amount of contributions from State sources for each of the following during each of the years since 1932: (i) school meals; (ii) free milk scheme; (iii) major public health works; (iv) treatment of tuberculosis; (v) widows' and orphans' pensions; (vi) blind welfare; (vii) school medical service; (viii) maternity and child welfare; (ix) treatment of venereal disease; (x) assistance in kind to recipients of home assistance; (xi) recoupment of home assistance in certain cases; (xii) supplemental cash allowances to old age pensioners, etc.; (xiii) cheap footwear.

STATEMENT showing for each of the twelve years to the 31st March, 1944, the gross expenditure incurred in connection with the Scheme for the supply of milk free of charge to necessitous children, by the Local Authorities in each County Borough and County and also the amounts paid from the State Grant during those years.

For the year 1937/38 the figures denoted by asterisk include the sum of £896,000 sanctioned for the carrying into effect of the waterworks improvement scheme for the City of Dublin authorised by the Liffey Reservoir Act, 1936.

RETURN of Expenditure by Local Authorities on Tuberculosis Schemes in respect of the years 1932 to 1944 and of the amount paid to Local Authorities during 1944 in respect of the Tuberculosis Block Grant.
NOTE:—One half of the expenditure of local authorities shown above has been recouped from the State grant. The local authorities in addition to the expenditure shown above also spent their apportioned share of the Tuberculosis Block Grant. This grant is £27,750 each year and the share of the local authority for 1944 is shown at the end of the return. return.

EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES under the Public Health (Prevention and Treatment of Disease) (Ireland) Act, 1917.
NOTE.—75 per cent of the expenditure incurred by each local authority shown above is recouped from the State Grant.
GRANTS FROM STATE FUNDS TO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE AUTHORITIES.
(NOTE: The State recoups 100% of the expenditure of public assistance authorities in the provision of assistance in kind to recipients of home assistance, 75% of the expenditure on supplemental cash allowances, 50% of the expenditure on the provision of home assistance in certain cases, and on the provision of footwear to necessitous children.)

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state: (1) the amounts paid in cash benefits under the National Health Insurance Acts in each county in 1944; (2) the total amounts provided since 1932 in each county for—(i) the various types of road works, (ii) the provision of land for allotments, together with the amount of the contributions made by the Exchequer in each case; (3) (a) the total amount paid since 1932 in each county by means of grants to private persons and public utility societies in respect of the erection and reconstruction of houses; (b) the total amount spent since 1932 by local authorities on the erection of houses in (i) urban areas, and (ii) rural areas; (c) the total number of houses built and reconstructed since 1932; (d) the total number of labourers' cottages erected, and the cost, in each county since 1932; and the number of cottages vested in tenants since that year; (e) the amounts made available in each county under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts; and (4) the total payments made since 1932 from Sweepstakes funds in respect of hospitals in each county.
