asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state whether the River Erne electricity supply project will raise the level of Upper or Lower Lough Erne and, if so, what protection or redress the landowners in the Belturbet area of County Cavan will be accorded if their lands are flooded.

The River Erne electricity supply project will not raise the level of the Upper or Lower Lough Erne and it is anticipated that there will, as a result of the scheme, be an improvement in the drainage of the surrounding districts. The last part of the question does not arise.
