asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of applications received in 1948 from persons in County Monaghan for housing and reconstruction grants and the number sanctioned in each case.

A total of 170 applications for new houses and reconstruction grants have been received in the Department during 1948, of which 71 have been approved for grants. A further 52 are awaiting further information from the applicants. Of the remaining 47 the bulk are awaiting inspection, while a certain number are being examined in the Department. It is expected that all cases awaiting inspection, as well as those before the Department, will be disposed of shortly.
