asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that lands suitable for afforestation are available in the townlands of Cloonabinna, Curra, Gorthacalla, Ballinahalla and Gorthacree, at Moycullen, County Galway, and if he will have steps taken to acquire these lands.

Offers totalling 750 acres in the townlands in question have been received and contain a large proportion of land suitable for afforestation. I have had the areas inspected and valued and I hope to issue offers for purchase at an early date.

Some of the lands present a difficulty as the owners are not anxious to sell for cash but want other land by way of exchange.
