asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state (i) how many foreign conductors have been engaged for the Radio Éireann Orchestra during the period January 1st, 1948, to the 30th June, 1949; and (ii) what is the total expenditure for these engagements.

During the period in question 12 foreign conductors were engaged by Radio Éireann. The fees paid to them totalled £2,715 11s. Od. In addition, travelling expenses, totalling £288 10s. 4d., were paid to six conductors.
