asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the stage which has been reached by the Sligo and Roscommon County Councils in the preparation of a scheme under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, for the cleaning and deepening of the Feorish River, with a view to relieving flooding in both counties.

I am not aware of any joint scheme such as that mentioned by the Deputy. The Sligo County Council have submitted a scheme for cleaning part of the river in County Sligo. This is under consideration in the Department in connection with the programme of works for the coming financial year.
