asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the result of the efforts which he stated in Dáil Éireann on 28th April, 1949, he was making to grant established status to State foresters and to improve their salaries.

Foresters were given a substantial increase in salary last July. Some housing allowances were also granted.

Regarding the other part of the question, it has not been found possible to deal with this matter in advance of similar claims by unestablished civil servants generally. As I pointed out in April, 1949, the decision does not rest solely with me.
