Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Restrictions on Emigration.
asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state whether the condition which existed during the recent world war, whereby various restrictions on emigration were placed on certain classes of persons, has now been completely eliminated.
Comment on this
The restrictions on emigration to employment which were in operation during the period of the recent emergency have not been completely removed. So far as they applied to women and girls, restrictions ceased to have effect on the 1st July, 1946, but they continue to operate in the case of men and boys. I should perhaps mention that persons of either sex who are under 21 years of age are required to produce the written consent of their parents or guardians in support of applications for travel documents.
