Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Houses for Ex-Servicemen.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has been able to convince the Dublin Corporation of the desirability and the urgency of allocating housing accommodation to ex-servicemen now occupying married quarters in Arbour Hill and other barracks in the City of Dublin; and, if so, if he will ensure that these ex-servicemen will be restored their full pensions, which were reduced by excessive amounts for the purpose of meeting the rents of the married quarters.

Michael Joseph O'Higgins Minister for Defence (Dr. O'Higgins) Fine Gael

The matter of the provision of housing accommodation for these ex-servicemen is under active consideration and it is hoped to conclude negotiations at an early date. Payment of the balance of any moneys due will be made if and when the married quarters are evacuated.
