asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will explain the difficulty grocers experience at the present time in obtaining supplies of lard.

While I am informed that supplies of lard are procurable through the normal channels, the quantity of lard available for sale is directly related to the number of pigs delivered to bacon factories for curing and during the present year to date there has been a reduction in the figures of such deliveries as compared with 1950.
