asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that a number of the employees were recently dismissed at the Sligo Foundry Works; and if so, if he will have measures taken to relieve this unemployment.

I have made inquiry, and have been informed that the foundry in question has had to lay off a certain number of workers because of slackness of trade. Any suggestion which the company may make to improve its trade will be sympathetically considered.
