asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the gross debt of the several local authorities in County Galway—excluding harbour authorities, vocational education and county committees of agriculture—at the 31st March, 1952, and (b) the amounts paid in interest for the year ending 31st March, 1952, by such local authorities.

The gross capital debt of the several local authorities in County Galway, excluding harbour authorities, vocational education committees and the county committee of agriculture, at the 31st March, 1925, was approximately £1,916,000. The amount paid in interest (including interest on temporary overdrafts) by such local authorities in the year ended 31st March, 1952, was approximately £59,000.
