asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that, because of statements made during the general election by Ministers who are now in office, there is considerable doubt in County Kildare as to the intention of the Government in regard to the Naas road improvement scheme, and if he will make a statement in the matter.

I have no intention of interfering with the carrying out by Kildare County Council of any road improvement schemes for which grants have already been allocated. The works which will qualify for any further grants that may be placed at my disposal will be considered by me in due course.
