asked the Minister for Education if he will state the percentage of failures in pass mathematics in the Leaving Certificate Examination, 1954, and how such percentage compares with that of 1950.

36 per cent. of the candidates taking pass mathematics at the Leaving Certificate Examination in 1954 failed in that subject, 25.5 per cent. of such candidates failed in mathematics in 1953, 22.9 per cent. failed in 1952, 30.1 per cent. failed in 1951 and 16.3 per cent. failed in 1950.
