asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that there is an acute shortage of turbary in the Kinlough area, County Leitrim, and, if so, if he will request the Land Commission to develop the bog on Thur Mountain, Kinlough.

I take it that the Deputy's question relates to a large area of turbary on the former Nixon and Less estate near Kiltyclogher.

The demand for this turbary has been rather slow but if a sufficient number of genuine and deserving applicants come forward I have no doubt the Land Commission will agree to accommodate them.
