asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the total acreage of land (a) purchased for afforestation, (b) for which offers had been accepted and titles were being investigated, and (c) in respect of which offers were in course of negotiation, as at 31st March, 1954 and 1955, and the total estimated price in each case.

The information sought is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to have circulated with the Official Report. I have added for the Deputy's information details of areas offered by the Land Commission which do not fall into the categories specified.
