Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Vesting of County Limerick Cottages.

Michael Colbert Mr. Colbert

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, in respect of County Limerick, the total number of cottages vested in the tenants up to 1st January, 1956; further, what procedure should be adopted by a cottier who is dissatisfied with the repairs carried out to his cottage prior to the date of vesting.

Patrick O'Donnell Minister for Local Government (Mr. O'Donnell) Fine Gael

The latest date to which information is available in the Department is the 31st March, 1955. At that date, the number of cottages vested in tenants by the Limerick County Council was 1,013.

If a tenant is dissatisfied with the repairs carried out to his cottage for the purpose of vesting, it is open to him under Section 18 (2) of the Labourers Act, 1936, to seek a determination from the Minister of the matters in dispute.
