asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if instructions have been issued that, in respect of the employment of persons for temporary work in the Post Office at Christmas, university students are to be employed, and, if so, if he will consider withdrawing such instructions and recruiting persons for such employment from the employment exchanges.

No instructions have been issued for the employment of university students on temporary Post Office work during the Christmas period. Persons employed on Christmas postal work are selected from those registered for such work at Employment Exchanges. Subject to physical and educational suitability preference is given to recipients of unemployment benefit or assistance.
