asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of persons whose incomes exceed £1,500 a year, and the total income of such persons.

It is estimated that, for the year of assessment 1954-55, the latest year for which statistics are available, the number of persons whose incomes exceeded £1,500 per annum was about 9,000 and that their total income for that year was approximately £27,000,000.
