Written Answers. - Acquisition and Distribution of Limerick Estates.

andMr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Lands what proposals are at present being examined by the Land Commission regarding the acquisition and distribution of estates in County Limerick, and the present position in each case.

I.In County Limerick, the Land Commission have at present under investigation, with a view to considering the institution of acquisition proceedings, an aggregate area of 1,294 acres comprised in 9 properties.

II. Proceedings are in progress for compulsory acquisition of the following estates:—

In addition, negotiations are in progress for the voluntary purchase of an area of 31 acres but it would be a breach of confidence to disclose details thereof at this stage.

III.Apart from turbary and small remnants of allotted estates, following are particulars of lands in the possession of the Land Commission for distribution:—

It is not possible at present to indicate when these estates will be allotted but there will be no avoidable delay.
