asked the Minister for Finance what progress has been made with regard to the preparation of a scheme for the arterial drainage of the River Deel, County Limerick; and when it is expected that actual drainage operations will commence.

It is expected that a scheme will be ready for consideration by the end of the year. A number of statutory requirements would then have to be complied with and I cannot at this stage give a date for starting work.
