The answer, which includes some explanatory notes, is in the from of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

NOTE.—Some Occasional Licences, Special Exemption Orders and Club Extensions are applied for well in advance of the dates to which they relate: others are applied for only a few days beforehand. Accordingly the figures have been sub-divided in the Table hereunder to show the applications granted since 4th July, 1960, the date on which the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1960, came into force, which were in respect of dates (a) prior to 31st July, 1961 and (b) subsequent to 31st July, 1961.

*On 1st April, 1961 as part of a re-organisation of District Court Districts and District Court Areas part of Shankill District Court Area was transferred to Bray District Court Area. Accordingly Occasional Licences, Special Exemption Orders and Extensions in respect of premises in the transferred area authorised after 31st March are included in the figures given for the Bray District Court Area.
