asked the Minister for Local Government what the cause of the delay is in commencing work on the Ballyduff (North Kerry) sewerage scheme; and when the contractor will start operations.

I am informed that delay in commencing work on Ballyduff Sewerage Scheme was due to the necessity for re-examining the scheme in the light of a late request by a local creamery for permission to connect to the scheme when completed. It is expected that work on the scheme will start this week.
