Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extension of Services for State Messengers and Ushers.

asked the Minister for Finance whether an extension of services is granted to ushers, messengers, etc., in the State service who have Army service.

Comment on this

An extension of service beyond the normal retiring age may be granted to any usher, messenger, etc., in the State service or indeed to any civil servant on grounds of public interest, hardship or national service or in accordance with the provisions of Section 8 (4) of the Civil Service Regulation Act, 1956. Service in the Army is not taken into account in administering the retention arrangements referred to.
