With your permission, Sir, I propose to take Questions Nos. 1 and 2 together.

I was recently interviewed by a representative of the magazine Time. Although I did not see the article referred to before its publication, remarks of mine quoted in the article and views attributed to me and introduced by words indicating that I gave them to the writer of the article are a fair representation of what I said to him.

I am not responsible for any other statements in the article. Specifically, the reply to the first part of Question No. 2 is in the negative.

Is the Taoiseach taking any steps to make the position clear in regard to that part of the interview which it is alleged he gave in relation to NATO?

Comment on this

The reply I have just given will have that effect.

I am sure the Taoiseach will not get the same publicity again in Time.
