asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if there is any prospect of reopening the Avoca Mines; and if, in view of the rumour circulating in Dublin that fraudulent practices were indulged in by foreign persons connected with the mines, he will clarify the position, and make a full statement on the matter.

I hope to be in a position to make an announcement in regard to the Avoca Mines in the near future.

With regard to the second part of the question, if the Deputy will furnish me with any particulars which he may have, I will have the necessary investigations made.
