asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether any proposals have been made to develop Radio Éireann as a powerful commercial station covering neighbouring countries.

From time to time proposals to allow private concerns to conduct international commercial broadcasting from Ireland, or to develop Radio Éireann as a powerful station for broadcasting commercial programmes to other countries, have been made by various interests and have been rejected. No proposals of this kind are at present under consideration.
