asked the Minister for Lands if further to a reply of 2nd June on the subject of Maharees Pier, Castlegregory, County Kerry, he will give details of his observations of the landings at this pier; and whether, since it is a matter of urgency, he will make some improvements to it forthwith.

The progress of local fish landings is an important factor in deciding whether a grant from State funds towards the cost of improvements at this pier could be justified. The value of these landings has shown a downward trend in the past two years and was only about £800 in 1963. I am keeping the landings under observation in the hope that they will improve this year.
