asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the recent increases in the cost of living, he will raise the level of the personal income tax allowance for both married and single persons.

The matter raised is one which would require Finance Bill legislation and the Deputy will appreciate that I cannot indicate in advance what proposals my Budget statement may or may not contain.
