The information requested by the Deputy is given in the following tables. The latest year for which data are available for the principal countries of Western Europe is 1963. For comparability the figures for Ireland in the second table are based on OECD concepts.

ESTIMATED taxation receipts of the Central Government (including extra-budgetary funds) as a percentage of Gross National Product at market prices, 1965/66.

CENTRAL Government taxation as a percentage of Gross National Product at current market prices, 1963.

Sources: OECD General Statistics, January, 1965.

Economic Statistics, 1965.

National Income and Expenditure, 1963.

*Figures are based on OECD concepts which excludes emigrants' remittances from GNP and excludes taxes on capital and social insurance contributions from taxation.
