asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries what progress has been made regarding the introduction of the new milk recording scheme; and what prospects there are of its coming into operation this year.

For some years past my Department has been considering with the interests concerned the question of improving existing milk recording and allied services, but so far general agreement on a satisfactory scheme has not been reached.

This whole problem is under active consideration but it is unlikely that a scheme acceptable to all the interests concerned will be formulated in time to be introduced this year.
