asked the Minister for Education the number of national schools in each of the 26 counties, distinguishing borough areas which are (a) at present in use, (b) in need of thorough renovation, and (c) beyond economic repair.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to give the information requested in the form of a tabular statement to be included in the Official Report.

Following is the information:

NATIONAL SCHOOLS

(a) AT present in use, (b) in need of thorough renovation, and (c) beyond economic repair on 31/10/1967.

Included in the figures at columns (b) and (c) are schools for which the arrangements for reconstruction or replacement are well in hands and, also, a rather large number of schools which will shortly go out of operation through their being amalgamated in larger school units.
