Comment on this

There is no applicacation before my Department for a loan for the Glanmire-Riverstown Water Supply Augmentation Scheme, contract documents for Stage I of which are at present under examination.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the application submitted by Kerry County Council for £50,000 to implement the first stage of the Ardfert piped water scheme will be sanctioned.

Comment on this

Having regard to the necessity to conserve available capital for housing and other essential services only those sanitary services works of the highest priority can be allowed to proceed at the present time. On this basis, I am not yet in a position to say when a decision on the scheme referred to by the Deputy is likely to issue.

Comment on this

Is the Minister aware that this scheme is No. 1 on the priority list of works of the Kerry County Council and has been No. 1 for the last three years? Is he further aware that there is not sufficient water to flush the sewage and the Kerry County Council has had, on several occasions, to hire a relief fire brigade car to flush the sewage?

Comment on this

There are water and sewerage schemes to the value of £370,000 proceeding in Kerry at present and it is not possible, just at present, to start anything more.

Comment on this

Is the Minister aware this has been No. 1 priority for the last three years and there is not one penny to implement the scheme? Is he further aware that the present supply is not sufficient to flush the sewage and, were it not for the hiring of the relief fire brigade car to flush the sewage, the people could not reside in the village of Ardfert? Surely that is worthy of consideration and I ask the Minister to give it consideration in view of existing circumstances.

Comment on this

It will get favourable consideration as far as possible.

asked the Minister for Local Government the total amount of money allocated to Meath County Council for water and sewerage schemes for the financial year 1968-69; the particular schemes which have been sanctioned; and the amount allocated for each.

Comment on this

An initial capital allocation of £21,330 was made to Meath County Council on the 21st June, 1968, in respect of sanitary and miscellaneous services schemes which were in progress as at the 31st March, 1968.

Three further schemes have since been released for commencement in the county in the current year—Duleek water supply extension to Ashbourne, Duleek water supply extension to Plattin and water and sewerage extensions to Blackcastle housing site, Navan.

An additional capital allocation will be made in respect of each of these schemes as they arrive at loan approval stage.

Comment on this

Would the Minister say what is the position in regard to the remaining schemes on the priority list submitted early this year to the Department by the Meath County Council?

Comment on this

I think that is a separate question and the Deputy would have to put down a separate question.

Comment on this

If the Minister has the information there he could give it.

Comment on this

I have not got the information here. I have the schemes that were commenced.

Comment on this

I will put down another question.
