Michael Hilliard Minister for Defence (Mr. Hilliard) Fianna Fáil

The following is the information requested:—

Building Trade Workers (except Plumbers) and classes related to the Building Trade for pay purposes.

Plumbers

Motor Mechanics, Sheetmetal Workers, Vehicle Building Tradesmen, Engineering Tradesmen and classes related for pay purposes to the Engineering Trade.

Civilian Crew Members

Shipbuilding Employees

Electricians

Furniture Trade Workers

Clerical Classes

The foregoing represent the main groups of workers employed by my Department. There are, however, various other categories for whom the question of overtime has not arisen. It is the practice of my Department, in fixing rates of pay, to have regard to the rates payable in comparable outside employment in the area concerned and this practice would be followed if the question of overtime for any of these employees arose.
