asked the Minister for Finance whether the new Irish coinage will be designed by Irish artists and craftsmen; or if the British Mint will be asked to provide designs.

For the decimal coins it is proposed to use the existing coinage designs as far as is practicable. The Central Bank is preparing detailed proposals for such additional design work as may be needed.
