Patrick J. Lalor Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. Lalor) Fianna Fáil

Tenders have been invited for the erection of a new district sorting office at Ballyfermot, Dublin. The latest date for receipt of tenders is 21st May, 1969.

Arising out of that inspired reply, could the Parliamentary Secretary say whether or not he has received representations from the tenants' organisation there as long as 18 months ago on this matter, prior to the discovery of Ballyfermot by Deputy Dowling, and that he has in fact answered questions put by me to him in a very indecisive and unpromising manner on this subject hitherto? Is it not evident he told Deputy Dowling to ask this question now?

My records show that Deputy Des Foley had actually been on to me. In view of the fact that tenders have been invited, it was there for everybody to see, especially people who were particularly interested in Ballyfermot. Maybe Deputy Dowling took advantage of that.

I should like to ask the Parliamentary Secretary to ensure that this sorting office goes ahead with all possible speed. The area has been neglected for too long by Deputy Dunne.
