asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange that free turf will be supplied to qualified applicants from October to May in view of the fact that bad weather regularly extends over this period and causes grave hardship to elderly people and others.

The qualified applicants for free turf are recipients of home assistance and it is open to the public assistance authorities to supply free turf as assistance-in-kind at any time to such persons where the household circumstances so warrant.
