asked the Minister for Finance the total amount of income tax refunded to taxpayers in respect of medical expenses relief to the latest convenient date; and the number of cases in which refunds have been made.

Income tax repaid to taxpayers in respect of medical expenses relief under the provisions of section 12 of the Finance Act, 1967, amounted to £51,325 in the year ended on the 31st March, 1969. Repayments were made in 1,529 cases. The repayments related to expenditure for the first year of the scheme, viz. 1967-68.
