asked the Minister for Justice the number of prosecutions for exceeding the 60 mph limit since the regulation was introduced.

The 60 mph general speed limit was introduced on 1st April last and, in the six months period to the end of September, 912 prosecutions for exceeding the limit were brought by the gardaí. In addition, cautions were administered in 527 cases where the limit was exceeded by only a very small margin.
