asked the Minister for Justice if he will give the figures for the number of parking tickets issued during the year 1969; and the total number of such fines paid in the same year.

The total number of parking tickets issued during the year 1969 was 203,118. In the same period, the total amount paid at Garda stations as "fines-on-the-spot" was £125,731. There is an interval between the issue of a ticket and the making of the payment at the garda station. Cases of nonpayment are dealt with by the issue of summonses.
