asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give details of any progress to date in the Grand Canal scheme of the south and west Dublin drainage schemes.

The scheme referred to by the Deputy has been approved in principle by me and I have also agreed to the local authority's proposal to invite design tenders for that section of the project to be carried out in tunnel. Planning is proceeding on the remaining sections of the scheme.
