asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that at present licensed insurance companies in Ireland in many instances are not accepting renewals of fire insurance policies in full; and that in most cases insurance cover cannot be obtained elsewhere; and what action he proposes to take in the matter.

I have received a number of complaints of inability to obtain full fire insurance cover in the past few months.

I am concerned at the number of such cases, and a meeting has been arranged between officers of my Department and the fire officers committee with a view to seeking a solution to the problem.
