Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Student Nurses Fees.

Gerard Lynch Mr. G. Lynch Fine Gael

andMr. Timmins asked the Minister for Health if he will consider the introduction of a scheme to give financial aid to student nurses in cases where the fees payable to training hospitals impose an undue burden on the family.

Comment on this

As fees are not charged by all nurse training hospitals and, in cases where they are charged, are not, with a few exceptions, significant, I feel that the introduction of such a scheme would not be warranted.

Moreover, the salaries now paid to student nurses are such as to enable them to pay fees by instalments, where necessary.
