Gerard Lynch Mr. G. Lynch Fine Gael

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will consider introducing a scheme of low interest loans for persons engaged in onion growing to assist them in providing drying, sorting and storage facilities, thus enabling them to compete in an open market.

My Department has no provisions for the making of loans or subsidisation of reduced rates of interest.

Loans for the purposes indicated are available to individual growers or co-operative groups from the Agricultural Credit Corporation Ltd.
