asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that doctors in the USA have discovered a substitute for the blood transfusion system; and if he will take the necessary steps to introduce this system in the Republic.

I am not aware of any such discovery.

I understand that, in fact, the USA intend to move as rapidly as possible towards the goal of voluntary blood supply system which has proved so successful in this country.
