Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Entitlement.

andMr. Donnellan asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether, on receipt of anonymous letters in his Department alleging that recipients of social welfare benefits are not entitled to benefit, payment is immediately suspended; or what action is taken in the matter.

Comment on this

Payment of social welfare benefit or assistance is not in any instance suspended immediately on receipt of an anonymous communication alleging irregularity. It is, however, the practice to investigate any allegation so made and payment may be suspended if it is established that the allegation is well-founded.
