asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware of the continuing incidence of salmon disease in the River Blackwater, County Cork; and if he has any proposals to deal with this problem.

I am aware of the continuing incidence of UDN in the River Blackwater, County Cork. Research into this disease, particularly in regard to the causative organism, has been carried out for a number of years at the Department's veterinary research laboratory and this work is continuing.
