Road Fund grants in County Galway

Summary

Molloy asked for Galway’s Road Fund expenditure since 1966 and its 1976 allocation; Tully said the tabular reply would be circulated and cautioned that expenditure figures may not match annual allocations.

asked the Minister for Local Government the amount expended from Road Fund grants in County Galway in each year since 1966; and the allocation from the Road Fund to County Galway in 1976.

As the reply includes a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report. Expenditure recoupable from the Road Fund in each of the years in question was as follows:

NOTES: It will be noted that the figures requested cover expenditure and that they will not necessarily relate to the allocations for the particular years.

(ii) The figures in Column (2) include expenditure on Main roads in Ballinasloe Urban District for which the County Douncil is the responsible road authority. Figures in Column (4) represent expenditure on Urban roads only.

(iii) The County Council was responsible for all public roads in the Borough until 1st April, 1973 when the Corporation undertook that responsibility. Accordingly, the figures in Column (3) for the years 1965-66 to 1972-73 inclusive, represent expenditure on Urban roads only.

ROAD Fund allocations for the current year, together with comparable figures for 1975, are as follows:

NOTE: Grants for Special Improvement Works include those for National Roads Improvement, National Secondary Roads Improvement, Bridge Works and other special grants.
